"because you were playing on your piano and you were talking. I don't listen with my eyes, so why shouldn't they be fixed on something pretty?"

Teacher: "I wasn't on the piano. Had you been paying attention to the lesson instead of your girlfriend's hair, you'd have known that. You're in school to learn, not stare at your girlfriend's hair."

"then why did you argue with me in class instead of teaching me something? and what about all the other students? they also didn't learn while you were giving me detention. I wasn't distracting anyone until you started disrupting class to give me detention. you know, the real problem is that you won't accept a lied apology. I'd also like to get out of here, but I just can't honestly be sorry for wanting a life without being raped."

Teacher: "Now you're being ridiculous. I was trying to go on with the lesson, you wouldn't let me. Sit down and be quiet until I tell you you may go."

Rene sits down and is quiet.

Teacher: After a few hours, in which I grade papers and finish my work, I look up at Rene. "You may go home, now. But you will be held after school tomorrow, and the day after. You will be held everyday after school until you apologize."

"but you said you won't accept a lie? won't that mean I'll have detention until I graduate?"

Teacher: "I want you to understand what you did was wrong. So if you never understand and never truly apologize, you'll sit there every day after school until you graduate." Picks up my things. "I'd like to get home at some time, today. All the school buses are gone, do you need a ride?" I see Miss Flamen sitting on the floor in the hall across from the class room. "I'll give your girlfriend a ride home, as well."

"yeah right. the cute little boy gets into the car of the big old stranger who stared at him for hours. what could possibly go wrong with that. no thank you, I have no interest in that kind of ride" I stomp out of the classroom and walk over to Rene. "I am sorry, but apparently I have detention until I graduate."

Teacher: Follows Rene out of the classroom. "I'm not a stranger, I'm your teacher. I have no interest in harming you."

Rene: I hug the other. "Well, I did tell you to behave, didn't I?" I look towards the teacher. "Did I hear you say you'd be willing to give us a ride home? Thank you, that'd be nice."

Rene: "you think we can trust him? he just locked me in for hours in that room and kept watching me and he wants to do that every day from now on. and now as if that's not suspicious enough, he is offering us "a ride" as well. sound's pretty creepy to me"

Rene: I stand up straight. "I've known this teacher for years. He's never once harmed me. In fact, he's been very kind to me. It's too far for us to walk home and the city buses don't run at this hour. Well, if you don't want to accept the offer, you can stay here, all by yourself, while I get home safe and sound."

"no no, look, I'm sorry. I was just cautious, I care about you and don't want you harmed. but when you say we can trust him, then of cause I'll gladly accept the offer."

Teacher: "What about an apology? Or are you too proud to know how to give a real one."

"no, you are right. I'm sorry for assuming you are a paedophile pervert."

Teacher: "And what about class, earlier?"

"what about it?"

Teacher: "I'd still appreciate an apology from earlier in class. I wasn't attacking and bullying you. Ah..." I inhale. "Nevermind. To the car, both of you, it's this way." I lead Rene and Rene to my car, unlocking it and holding the door open for them.

Rene:
"and I'd appreciate not to have detention every day."
I let Rene enter and follow her inside. I look sad as I try holding her hand "I wish there was a way to spend time with you. I'm sorry that I got detention."

Rene: Holds the other's hand whispering. "Don't apologize to me, apologize to the teacher. All you had to do was be quiet and pay attention for when he calls on you. The teacher got your attention with one little detention that could have lasted 1 hour. Then you go and argue with him over it. Is that the worst your temper gets? Maybe I should be worried."

Teacher: Gets in the car and buckles up. "Buckle up you two. And if you tell me your addresses, I'll take you each to your homes."

Rene: I clear my throat. "I'm sorry for" I'm about to say something sarcastic, but not with her listening "not paying total attention."

Teacher: "Thank you, that's all I wanted."

Rene: "We actually live at the same place, teacher." I give him the address and away we go. Soon we are dropped off at our home.

I stare at the teacher "What?! all those hours were about that?! I thought you wanted an apology for arguing with you! you just wasted several hours of my life because you didn't tell me that all this was only about not paying attention"

Teacher: Sighs. "I wanted an apology for wasting time. Yours, mine, and the whole class's. You wasted time that could been better spent learning over an argument, so I wasted time better spent enjoying your free time.
If not paying full attention is the true apology is the best that you could do, then that's the best I can accept."

Rene: Opens the car door, "Thanks for the ride." I pull on the other's hand. "Come on! I'm tired of all these arguments."

Rene: I am not done arguing, actually, but if she wants me to stop, of cause I do. I don't thank him though. ~I didn't do anything. I was quiet and didn't bother anyone.~ I let her pull me.
