"is there something you keep secret?"

Rene: I smile, prettily. "No, why do you ask?"

"no reason." I begin getting exhausted

Rene: I try to keep from laughing. I look at the clock over the scoreboard. We've been running for five minutes and should have another ten minutes to go.

(And yes, I have had gym teachers do this to me. Run for 15-20 minutes, and then do whatever we had to do for class that day.)

(our's were always super soft. one time we had really hard practice and I had a little diarrhoea that day... it mixed with the sweat and when I had a chance to sit down, I left a little brown puddle.)

I poke Rene in the side "tell me your secret"

(LOL. the mental images in my brain, right now. I tend to warn people regarding embarrassing misfortune. Like if they're about to fall doing something silly and I see them doing that something silly. First, I'll laugh, then I'll help you up or feel sorry for you. So now I'm laughing, in a minute I'm be blushing and feeling embarrassed for you.)

Rene: I smirk. Then think of something silly. "Oregano."

I look puzzled "thyme"

(Yes, shit happens. Literally. LOL)

Rene: I laugh out loud, causing the teacher to yell at us. "We should pay attention. After we run, we'll probably be playing dodgeball. That's the unit we're on in class."

(haha, true. I wasn't embarrassed that moment. I was only exhausted and felt sick^^)

(what's dodgeball? sounds like someone throws a ball at you and you have to dodge it.
A classic ball-game in German schools is Völkerball "peoples ball" (called that way because it was used instead of fighting when two villages were mad at each other). Imagine a rectangular field. divide it in the middle. however, that line goes further than the field. there are four parts of the playing field. the two halves of the rectangular and the two halves outside of the rectangular. the players are divided into two teams, each team chooses a King. the players of one team go into the one halve of the rectangular, the other team goes into the other halve. the Kings are outside of the rectangular, on the opponents side. there are usually two balls in play. when you hit someone with the ball and the ball then touches the ground, that player is out. that means he goes to the outside of the rectangular, the halve which surrounds your side. players who are out, go in again when they throw an opponent out. that way there is a constant running in and out^^ once only one player is left inside one field, the King gets in. he leaves again when there are at least two players (besides him) in again. the king has three lives. when all are gone, the game ends.)

(I would have felt a little embarrassed then laughed at myself over it all. The human body can do some funny and embarrassing things, sometimes both at the same time.)
(Dodgeball. You're half right with what it is. People throw balls and you have to dodge.
It's played with two teams, one team loses when all the members of their team are out. To get out. you must be hit by a ball thrown by another player, have a ball you've thrown caught. You are not out if you, get hit by a ball in the head, get hit by a ball that is deflected off a wall or floor, you catch a ball, or simply dodge the ball. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodgeball it's a hugely popular played in school gym classes.
I was always very good at the dodge part of dodgeball, but not so good at catching or throwing. I catch and throw like a girl.)

Rene: "It will be."

"does it involve Oregano?"

Rene: I smirk. "Nope."

I smirk back "does it involve thyme?"

Rene: "Nope."

"how about strawberries, cherries and cream?"

Rene: "You'll have to wait for later. I want to surprise you." At five minutes left in the running, I start having trouble. I concentrate and focus on my breathing, making sure I get enough oxygen to my muscles to tough it out. I also slow my pace a little.

I slow down as well. "hm, I can't wait." I try to tickle the other one.

Rene: Puffs, tries to push the other away. "Stop... We still got 5 more minutes of this. I want to make it to the end."

"whatever you say, princess" I am falling behind, I can't run that fast any more.

Rene: I'm struggling in the last minute, but I stare at the clock, breathing heavy. Just before I give up and start walking, the teacher blows the whistle ending the running portion of class. I walk an extra lap so as not to get a cramp then go stand in line. "Wooo, that was extra tough, today."

"hhh. hhh. you can. hhh say that twice." I pant heavily.

Rene: Watches the set up for Dodgeball. "Now do you see why I paced myself at the beginning?"

"yes. but I was faster. don't ruin my little triumph." I still pant "I won't go easy on you"

The teacher assigns teams. Rene and Rene are on opposite teams.

Rene: I grin trotting over to my side. "I should say the same to you."

"you should? we'll see about that"
