A Day In the Life

"If I hadn't killed Waltz we wouldn't have even taken over or gotten married. We wouldn't have the twins now either. We'd still be living in that crypt. I can't make observations about what I can and can't do to spend time with you and the kids?" Bakura sighed. "It's really only been a day and a half since I got home. Maybe even less than that."

(Fugue imagines he sees his breath)

Fugue: Looks at the flowers. "This is all well and nice. But what containers do you use to store the time being saved?"

"exactly. if you wouldn't have killed him, we wouldn't be together now. and yet you are complaining about the natural consequences of killing him. it sounds like your right to go around in town is more important to you than being married to me." I land and repeat my question "do you want to keep the shack?"

the grey man points at a pile of foxy boxes "we use those for transport."

"My right to go around town with you Yubel. Not on my own." He sighed. "I want to be with you."

Yubel:
"well, then you should have been with me instead of always being off somewhere alone"

(Foxy Boxes.... Dammit, now I want to rewatch Marik Plays Bloodlines, again.)

Fugue: casually wandering over to the boxes, "Interesting. Mind if I have a look inside? I've never seen time stored before. I'm curious to see everything about how it's done."

"I needed to think...calm down. I thought some fresh air might have helped. I'm sorry...really."

Yubel:
"you don't get the problem. it's not that you have a walk to calm down. the problem is that you are on walks all the time."

the grey man nods "sure, open one"
the boxes contain the same flowers.

Fugue: Looks confused. "I don't get it. Are the flowers the containers for time, and the boxes just what's used to ship them to the main branch? I'd like to see how you get the time in the flowers. Can you do a small demonstration for me?"

"No I'm not. I spent plenty of time with you when we were still in power. Before the kids were born. And even before we were in power I never left your side. But..."

Yubel:
"but then we lost control and so you are not interested in anything any more. you are a coward who can't get over one little loss. you lost a throne and got two children. you would have rather kept the throne?"

the grey man shakes his head. "no, those flowers are time" ~he is complicated. I thought manipulating him would be especially easy~

Fugue: Even more curious. "Those flowers are time? Interesting. I never thought of time as a flower... How...? Hmmm..." I continue thinking. "I suppose I could save a little time in your bank. What's the minimum I would need to deposit? I suppose I could part with a single minute. If that's alright."

"That's not it. I don't care about the throne anymore. I want to live in peace. With you. With my sister. With the twins. But Waltz won't let that happen. He doesn't care he just wants me as a prisoner no matter what the cost. I can't even protect myself. Diabound...his power grows through my hatred and desire for revenge. I still want to avenge the ninety-nine lost souls of Kula Elna. But I'm not feeling hatred. Diabound...He's...weaker now. I'll lose Claude when he takes Ryou's soul..."

the man pulls out a note book "one minute every day, that would be 21900 seconds every year. if I may ask you, is that how much time you'd like to have for your boyfriend? You see, Mr. Fugue, the more time you save, obviously the more time you'd have for more important things. let's take your patrol for instance. when you decrease your patrol time by one hour and let it be done by another guard instead, you'd gain 3600 seconds every day. after less than a week, you would have saved more time than in an entire year. if you let that be done by another guard, you'd save 938571 seconds every year. also you take about twenty minutes more to fall asleep when you are cuddling with your boyfriend, that are 1200 seconds that could be used for something better. in one year that would be 438000 seconds, together with the time you could save on your patrol it would be 1376571 seconds. You see Mr. Fugue, there are many options to save time."

Yubel:
"you are saying it, but your actions prove the opposite. you want to live peacefully with us? well you never even tried. you only walk around and hide the entire day"

"Because I...I'm scared. I don't want to be arrested again. But I also don't want to stay cooped up in the house all the time. And what if by some chance they do find where we're living and barge in to arrest me? If I hide somewhere...anywhere...maybe they will eventually give up..."

Yubel:
I calm down. "but they don't know about this place. if they find you, than just by chance, and they can find you anywhere by chance. here you have people to protect you"

"There are scouts out looking for me. If they saw us flying around they probably followed..."

"then you should stay. together our chances are higher"

"You're right...I'm being paranoid."

"yes. and in your paranoia you run away and hide and leave us alone."

"I'm sorry..."

"that's not enough. you can be as sorry as you want, that still doesn't make you a good father."

Fugue: I shake my head. "I'm not talking about one minute everyday, just one minute in general. How do I save that? What you're talking about is simple time management, and I'm more than capable of taking care of that, myself."
