Haou:
"how is she in the way? how is she stopping motheer from having a relationship with father?"

(Ah)

Fang: "Because only one woman can be with father. Mother can't be with father because Leona's in the way."

Haou:
"why should only one woman be able to be with Father? I mean sure, Father only has one body, but they could take turns."

Fang: "Mother doesn't want to take turns and I don't blame her."

Haou:
"sometimes you have to take compromises in live."

Fang: "That wasn't a compromise, it was an insult."

Haou:
"how was that an insult? I would rather share you than living without you."

Fang: Doesn't know how to get out of this argument. "Would you like to hang out with mother and me, by coming to dinner? You could meet her, get to know her. But you can't tell dad or Leona where we are."

Haou:
"It would be an honour. I would gladly come."

Fang: "I'll lead you to where we're staying. Maybe mom can explain to you what I can't." I open the door a little, peeking out for any sign of Dad or Leona. "Coast is clear, let's go." I lead Haou out of the mansion to the place where mother is.

Haou:
I let Fang enter first and follow him inside. "good evening, Mother."

MC: "For the moment, call me Calico, Haou. I only let him call me mother, since he's so insistent on it. How may I help you?"

Haou:
I get confused by this question. "excuse me, am I not invited for dinner?"

MC: I nod. "So you were. What do you kids eat? I forgot to ask Fang before he went off to get you. Can you forgive me?"

Haou:
"I accept your apology. being halve predator, halve demon, we feast on meat but mostly on blood of intelligent creatures."

MC: Smiling a little. "Ah, I shall go kill a random villager for you and bring it back here. Do you want it cooked after it's killed? A warm meal stewed in it's own blood and juices."

Haou:
"I would appreciate that, but please, don't go through all that trouble just to satisfy me, mother. I honestly don't need much food, I won't starve from spending one evening without alimentation."

MC: "Nonsense, you're my guests. You shall have the best that I can offer. In the meantime..." I give the boys some milk. Fang's in a nice glass, Haou's in a saucer on a low coffee table. "I shall return shortly with the fresh kill. I'll roast it on a spit in the fireplace." I go out hunting.

Haou:
my mouth waters. "that would be wonderful, mother." I look at the milk and lick it.

Fang: "She's not so bad, is she. Not at all like father said."

Haou:
"I agree. I must apologise to both of you."

Fang: "Her especially."

MC: After awhile, I return with a random dead villager that nobody will miss. I begin preparing him and roasting him on the spit, turning it slowly. "As soon as he's cooked it'll be dinner time for us all. Is there anything else you two need? Can't have your father thinking I'm a terrible hostess as well. I assume, that despite your promise, Haou, you'll report everything that happened here, tonight, to him."

Haou:
"Father will be curious about where I was and I have no intention to lie at him"

MC: "I don't expect you to." I turn the villager slowly in the fireplace. "I do love him, but I won't share him with another. I admit, when it comes to your father, I'm greedy. I want him all to myself. I had to steal him away from another rival, before. It was a lot of effort, that wore on me. I have no energy left to do it again. Your father made his choice. I am discarded like trash." I pause a few moments. "I have too much pride in myself to accept being treated like trash, so you see why I couldn't accept that joke of a compromise."

Haou:
"I assure you, he didn't mean to discard you. he wanted you back in the family. but not at that price. a lot has happened in the last years while you were dead. Father found love again. I wouldn't be surprised if he loved you more than Leona, though I am not entirely sure. what I am sure of is that he loves her enough to care for her. He wouldn't want his daughter to break up with her consort just because you demand it. it wouldn't be fair towards Leona. if he did it, he would have been discarding her, as if she was trash, as if she only served as a toy until your return. whatever he would have decided for, he would have discarded a cat that he loves. I am positive that's why he made that offer."
